You realize that you’ve a chip or a crack in your car’s windshield. You are scared it may get worse. But you’re no windshield expert. What do you do to prevent the small crack from shattering your windshield?
Do Not Wash It
Your first instinct may be to wash the windshield to clearly see the extent of the damage. But we request you NOT to wash it!
If water and cleaning agents enter the crack, they may make a way into the inner layer of your windshield. Alternatively, moisture may get stuck inside the crack, preventing the resin from adhering properly.
So washing is s strict NO, if you find a crack in your car’s windshield. Wipe it off with a dry, lint-free towel, if you must clean the glass.
Tape It
Clear tape can be a temporary solution till you get your car to one of the top windshield repair companies, such as A & A Auto Glass in Houston. Clear tape will protect the crack from further damage and dirt and also keep your line of sight clear.
Remember only to use clear, packing tape as other may make the damage worse.
Go To An Experienced Repair Facility
Whatever you do, do not delay going to a windshield repair shop. A single speed bump can make the damage worse!
